Dennis Puleo

The son of a machinist and hotel housekeeper, Dennis joined the Marines to fight in Vietnam. During his last engagement as a machine gunner, he took a direct hit by a hand grenade, was shot twice, and then torn apart by a mortar. After being awarded 3 Purple Hearts, Dennis spent a year recuperating in a VA hospital.

Dennis Puleo He left the hospital determined that hard work and a positive attitude would make him rich. An aggressive entrepreneur, he turned a home-based business into a multimillion-dollar franchise. Yet all his success couldn't remove the emptiness that plagued him deep inside.

Today, Dennis shares how he discovered success that really matters through Jesus Christ. Dennis is not a theologian or seminary graduate...he draws from his experiences in the foxholes of war and business to encourage others toward a life of hope and purpose.

Dennis Puleo Men's Retreat Speaker Dennis and his wife Joanne reside in Orlando, Florida where he is both the director of the Chairman's Advisory Council and a Faculty Member for Man in the Mirror presenting Success that Matters, a seminar for Men. Dennis also specializes in Men's Retreats.

His Story

In the fall of 1980 the wheels finally came off. Although my exterior posture was always "impervious", I was actually collapsing from within. After achieving the success my dad never had, I still felt lonely, weak, and like a fake. I owned cars, houses, boats, motorcycles, buildings, but was unsatisfied.

All the toys just weren't as "shiny" any more. At 34 years old, I had run out of steam and life had no real meaning anymore. I was trapped in a self-made cycle of "Work hard. Earn money. Pay bills." It seemed like I was always angry, and my moods were always unpredictable and volatile. My wife and kids were becoming afraid of me.

There was no balance in my life and certainly no joy. Then one evening in a stranger's house, I surrendered to God in a truly honest way. I was transformed. Many bad habits fell away, and my heart was dramatically changed. It was an obvious miracle. For the first time, I was experiencing true joy. I felt as if a huge burden was lifted of my back. I was set free.

Dennis Puleo Veteran I see now that you cannot be a "Lone Ranger" Christian. A man becomes like those he hangs out with. I stopped spending time with other Christian men and was sliding backwards, which was hardly noticeable at first.
